  • Master`s degree in Public Health (focus on Nutrition and Active Living) by Victoria University
  • Postgraduate degree in Microbiome by Regenera University

When I asked Adriana why she had studied Human Nutrition and Dietetics, her answer was that she loves eating and she wanted to understand more in depth the importance of nutrition in people’s lives. She believes that since we are born, we grow up in an environment where we socialize through food and drink. Therefore, helping people to make better food choices is so exciting to her. She says that since she was a little girl, she has always shown an interest in different foods and also in having healthy lifestyle habits that allow her to age in the best possible way. She tells me that her mother always says that her favorite food is paella because when she was 7 months old she tried it for the first time and was fascinated by it.

She studied Human Nutrition and Dietetics in Madrid where she discovered her interest in clinical and community nutrition. After finishing her degree, she felt the need to live away from home for a while. That is why she decided to take a big leap and go to live in New Zealand, as an au pair. Thanks to this experience, she was able to fully integrate into the English culture and discover more about the eating habits on the other side of the world. Living with kids made her discovered and became aware of the importance of good eating habits from an early age. She affirms that since we are children, we create bonds with food and establish certain patterns that when we are older are difficult to modify.

After living in New Zealand, she decided to study a master’s degree in public health in the neighboring country, Australia. Thanks to this master’s degree, the doors opened for her to start working as a nutritionist in that country. She worked as a nutritionist and she also organized and promoted events where she sought to improve people’s health. The experience of living and working as a nutritionist in that country gave her the opportunity of dealing with people from different countries and cultures and knowing how to adapt to their different customs, foods, cooking methods and preferred recipes.

Upon her return to Spain in 2020, she started working for a sports company, where she had her first contacts with people suffering from both, anorexia and bulimia, as they sought perfection in their bodies through working out extremly hard.

She currently works in a medical center where she treats patients with different pathologies (SIBO, food intolerances, digestive problems…), as well as weight loss or muscle mass gain among others. She believes that it working with a multidisciplinary team such as doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists is essential to see results in people, as each professional brings its knowledge and wisdom.

When working, she says she is a person who seeks to get to know people in order to adapt to their eating habits and modify them when it is convenient. In addition, she strongly believes in the individualization of nutritional guidelines as well as in supplementation, which can help in different situations.

Adriana defines herself as a very curious person who is always looking to learn something new. She believes that in the world of nutrition it is always necessary to keep yourself updated not to be left behind. That is the reason why she has recently studied about the impact of the microbiome in people’s health and its importance in different pathologies. Her great passions are sports (scuba diving, skiing and gym) and she never says no to a good brunch with its specialty coffee in the sun with her friends.

Adriana is now an established English speaking nutritionist in Madrid.
