  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Universidad de Almería).
  • Expert in Early Intervention (Universidad de Almería).
  • Master in General Health Psychology (Universidad Europea de Madrid).

Since her teenage years, Andrea has developed a life philosophy of respect and curiosity for the diversity of characters and people´s ways of facing life, being a high school professor the one who would encourage this nascent vocation serving as support and inspiration.

During her Bachelor of Psychology studies at the University of Almeria, she would attend the fourth academic year at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), where she experienced a complete cultural and linguistic immersion studying in English, as well as her first experience living away from home. In her «kot», she had the opportunity to live with students from other countries and other regions of the country, being the kitchen the common space where world recipes were savored amid a mixture of accents. The daily challenges of being a student abroad provided her with the opportunity to mature and get to know herself better.

After that year, and with a clear interest in clinical psychology, she decided to combine her last undergraduate course with an Expert in Early Intervention being fully aware that everything comes from those early stages of development, obtaining specific training in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the different difficulties in the child and adolescent stage. Her first contact with seriously ill adult patients took place during her internship in a day center with patients diagnosed within the spectrum of schizophrenia. Undoubtedly, a great professional experience that allowed her to learn about the most characteristic signs and symptoms of the pathology while still seeing the person behind the disease and their particular needs.

Once she finished her university studies, she decided to enter an intercultural experience that allowed her to continue improving her level of English for a year as an Au Pair in the state of Connecticut, USA. Where she lived with an American family, learned about the culture and customs of the country and experienced being away from home for the second time. Along with the experience of adjusting to being an expatriate worker and all the challenges that this entails, she had to build many of the fundamental areas in a person’s life such as family, social or emotional, as well as dealing with the intense but rewarding experience of the care of two twin siblings, making it her first contact with parenting and the responsibilities that define it.

In order to continue training as a clinical psychologist, she dedicated two full years to prepare to access training as an Internal Resident Psychologist, studying the main manuals in areas as important as psychopathology, psychological evaluation or the main treatment techniques, among others. After these two years, she decided to enroll in the Master in General Health Psychology at the European University of Madrid, which gave her the opportunity to do an internship at Sinews under the supervision of Carmen Irene de Lisa Marques, with whom she had the opportunity to work with the child and youth population between 7 and 16 years old and observe the work in session of cases of ADHD, stuttering, anxiety or depression.

At Sinews, she has also been able to carry out her work in school contexts thanks to the individual support in the classroom, being able to verify once again how optimal emotional development in the little ones helps the development of social relationships, as well as school learning. At present, her activity also focuses on young adults and adults with emotional problems such as depression and anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief or stress.

Andrea is a professional with a warm manner and an open and flexible attitude to whatever the person needs to bring to the session, creating a welcoming atmosphere. For her, the most important thing is to build an individual space of comfort and safety that characterizes the therapeutic process from the first session.
