  • General Health Psychologist.
  • Degree in Psychology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
  • Master’s in Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Centre Bertrand Russell.

Lucía grew up between two cultures: the Spanish and the American because, although she was born in Spain, her mother and her mother’s family are from the United States.

When she was a teenager her family moved to Portland (Oregon) where she entered a high school of the American Educational System. Later on, she came back to Spain, where she started her degree in Psychology. Afterwards, she was able to see for herself what “shock culture” meant and she started taking an interest in the adaptation processes and feelings of culture identity.

During her studies in Psychology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, she completed her theory background with internships in body image and addictions treatments. She also volunteered in different NGOs (Spanish Red Cross, Fundación ANAR,…). Attracted by the various schools (trends?) she studied abroad in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and was trained in Transactional Analysis.

Once she finished her degree in Psychology, she studied a Master’s program in Cognitive and Behavior Therapy in the Centre Bertrand Russell. There she had the chance to learn empirical validated treatments for all mental pathologies: depression, anxiety, Obsessive- Compulsive disorder, etc. Meanwhile, she maintained her solidarity vocation working to support victims from abusive relationships.

Having finished her Master’s studies she moved to Japan where she was selected as a therapist to participate in an innovative program (along with the NGO “Peace Boat”) to treat teenagers suffering severe social phobia (hikikomori).

Her areas of special interest are related to social relationships (social anxiety and phobia), mood disorders, anxiety and difficulties associated to adapting to a new country and culture.
