Alejandro knows first-hand the challenges that international moves entail for children and their families. Due to his parent’s work for a multinational, his family lived in multiple countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru). At that stage, he was trained in French educational institutions such as the Lycée Franco-Péruvien and the Lycée Français de Madrid, where a great variety of cultures converge, coinciding with teachers and colleagues from different parts of the world.

Since the beginning, Alejandro had it clear: he wanted to combine his passion for sciences with his desire to work with people, and that’s how he chose psychology.

During his time at university, he had the opportunity to enroll in international exchange programs in the US (State University of New York) and France (Université de Picardie Jules Verne).

His relationship with the United States begins as a teenager thanks to his mother’s best friend and her children living in the USA. Several summers together of bagels, cheering on the high school basketball team, and putting marshmallows on the fire made him feel a bit at home when he moved to Oswego in his junior year of college.

Undoubtedly, his time at the Lycée brought him closer to the French “Savoir faire”, as well as to French customs and the true intention of integrating a melting pot of cultures. He especially enjoyed the educational system, less reliant on rote learning and with a greater promotion of independent research and critical thinking.

His enthusiasm for childhood and adolescence led him to pursue a graduate degree in child and adolescent psychology. For Alejandro, these are vital stages with a great amalgam of changes and events that offer a valuable opportunity to positively impact the development of each child’s potential.

Interestingly, the other end of life is also an area of special interest to Alejandro. His grandparents are a vital part of his life, their support and influence has been and continues to be crucial. Aware of the challenges posed by the loss of functional abilities in both aging and brain damage, he is pursuing a master’s degree in clinical neuropsychology to help his patients navigate this path in the best possible way. His internship at the Polibea Sur brain injury rehabilitation center is giving him a first-hand experience of the daily challenges faced by those affected and their families.

During his Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology, he was selected to carry out his internship as a co-therapist at Sinews, led by the psychologist Itxaso Cembrero, his current supervisor.

His incorporation to the team is a real privilege and the result of a combination of talents and work capacity that is hard to find.
