Child and adult speech therapy
Languages: English and Spanish
Clara completed her Speech and Language Therapy degree in Madrid and then worked as a speech and language therapist in private settings both with children with learning difficulties and adults with acquired disorders such as aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia and degenerative disorders such as dementia and Parkinson´s disease. During her studies she also taught English and Spanish and volunteered at a Comunidad de Madrid Centre where she helped adolescents with learning difficulties, dyslexia and deafness.
From 2011 to 2013 she lived in London, working in a secondary school within the speech, language and communication team supporting special needs students with speech and language difficulties both in mainstream lessons and small speech and language groups. She also worked helping the social developmental and communication skills of children within the autistic spectrum with excellent results.
Her multilingual upbringing has permitted her to acquire English, Spanish and French at home from birth and has given her a special insight into language acquisition as well as an understanding of the needs of children exposed to more than one language from a young age.
Since 2013 Clara has been working as a bilingual speech and language therapist at Sinews MTI, carrying out assessments and clinical interventions with children and adults who present with articulation, language or communication difficulties, in English and in Spanish, as well as accent reduction programs for adults who wish to improve this aspect in a second language.
